Commodities Supplement  Food Program

There were 2,154 CSFP participants in Hidalgo County as of July 2007.

Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) works to improve the health of low-income pregnant and breastfeeding women, new mothers up to one year postpartum, infants, and children up to age six, and elderly people at least 60 years of age by supplementing their diets with nutritious USDA commodity foods.

CSFP distributions happen at community centers around Hidalgo County.  We are always in need of volunteers to help the seniors carry their 50 pound bags to awaiting transportation.

To volunteer for this duty, please call us at 956-682-8101.

·                  Many participating seniors have expressed gratitude and relief because without our bag of food they would not have had enough for food that month.
