School Tools is a project of the Food Bank RGV and is designed to place surplus school supplies in the hands of the neediest children.

Surplus supplies from local businesses and individuals are donated to the Food Bank RGV and used to fill packets and stock the shelves of the free store.

Currently, only schools with a 95% or higher economically disadvantaged student population are eligible for School Tools. Schools that meet the criteria go through a selection process by our School Tools Committee.

School Tools is a unique program that allows:
  • Children that need basic school supplies to receive them
  • Teachers the opportunity to stock their classrooms without dipping into their own pockets
