Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley volunteers come from all walks of life and share one thing in common – the willingness to give of themselves to help their neighbors in need. These dedicated people help with product recovery. 

Product recovery is one of the most important jobs!  Sorting through donated new, slightly damaged and sometimes not-fit-for-consumption product.  This is one of the most important aspects of volunteer jobs that there is.  Our product recovery volunteers are on the front lines of keeping good food going out to shelters, pantries and on-site feeding programs.

You can be a part of the recovery process of millions of pounds of food each year. Volunteers in this area evaluate donated products to determine what is safe for distribution and what needs to be discarded. A short training film and help from staff give you the knowledge needed for this task.

As a volunteer in Product Recovery, you are a valuable link in a chain that takes groceries from food drives, grocery stores and other sources and puts it in their hands of those who need it most.
