  1. Time for School!

    by Omar | Comments (0)

In a flash, Summer is over and kids are getting ready to hit the books for another school year!  Summer has been a tough time for low income families here in the RGV.  We've had a steady flow of people needed emergency food assistance and because of donors and volunteers, we've been able to meet the immediate need, but we need more help!  September is Hunger Action Month and we will be filling up our calendar with tons of activities to help bring awareness of hunger to our community.  Empty Bowls is coming, Sept. 19, 2013 at the Pharr Events Center!  And don't forget the Cup K sponsored by the RGV Cupcake Factory, Sept. 28, 2013!

Thank you for Fighting Hunger, Feeding Hope!

  2. Life After Hunger Action Month

    by Omar | Comments (0)

Well, another Hunger Action Month is in the books and it was the best one yet at the Food Bank RGV!  We made a lot of new contacts and new friends this year!

For those of you that don't know, Hunger Action Month is every September.  We work with Feeding America to raise awareness of food insecurity, encourage volunteering and ask for donations in any way the community can . . . all to fight hunger!

This year, we had a great partnership with WhatMcAllen.com who helped us with an awesome rock concert benefit!  We also had over 30 events throughout the month!

Highlights included: a Whataburger fundraiser night,UTPA switching on orange lights at their visitors center and Empty Bowls!

Thank you to everyone who helped us!
