“I love this program it is a great help for [the students] and for me.” – Jessica Aguilar, 2nd Grade Teacher.

School Tools is a program of the Food Bank RGV. It is one of only three similar programs that exists within food banks in the state. Our School Tools program provides school supplies to 88 elementary schools in South Texas that have 70% of students from low income households.

Our supply center allows teachers at those schools to access the supplies needed during the school year and our primary goal is to ensure these children have the tools they need to succeed early in the educational process. Over 33,000 children are provided supplies on a yearly basis.

School Tools makes every effort to have basic school supplies. Since we receive donations from many different companies, other materials available at School Tools can vary and may include educational crafts, toys, magazines, books, art supplies, computer software, furniture and more.

School Tools is affiliated with The Kids In Need Foundation. The Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization that aims to improve every child’s education by providing school supplies to students in need.

While shopping online, you will be presented with an appointment when supplies can be picked up.

Due to Covid, this will be our only form of shopping for now until further notice. We are resorting back to shopping once a month every month till the end of May. (Masks are mandatory)

What else do I need to know?

Promptly arriving as close to your assigned time helps to ensure all teachers will have a chance to shop.

Please do not bring your children with you during your shopping appointment.

Because all of the items are donated, the Food Bank RGV has to ensure that they are used for the donor’s intended purpose. Please help us honor our commitment to our donors. Items may not be resold, traded or bartered for home or personal use. You may be dropped from the program if supplies are not used exclusively in the classroom or you fail to comply with any rules or guidelines of the program.
